The photograph shows one of Gdańsk’s most recognisable landmarks – the historic Port Crane. The structure is characterised by a massive, black wooden hoisting mechanism set between two brick towers covered with red roof tiles. Running along the Motława River is Długie Pobrzeże, lined with terraced houses, restaurants and tourists out for a stroll. Smaller vessels can be seen on the water, and on the right-hand side of the frame, on the opposite bank (Ołowianka), the historic ore carrier SS Sołdek is moored. The photograph was taken on a sunny day under a cloudless, deep blue sky.
Gdańsk Old Town

A beautifully restored historic district featuring iconic maritime architecture along the Motława River.
The photograph shows one of the most iconic places in Gdańsk – Długi Targ. The frame is dominated by a row of closely joined, restored townhouses in the Renaissance and Baroque styles, characterised by a variety of colours (shades of beige, orange, red and grey) and unique roof finials. Centrally positioned in front of the townhouses stands the historic statue of Neptune holding a trident. At the foot of the buildings, white parasols from the café terraces are set out. The photograph was taken in full, bright sunlight against a cloudless sky.

The photograph shows the Main Square in Kraków, with the Gothic St Mary’s Basilica – featuring its two distinctive, uneven towers – dominating the frame. In front of the church, one can see the statue of Adam Mickiewicz, as well as passers-by and tourists. To the left are restaurant terraces sheltered by large, light-coloured parasols, whilst in the background a row of colourful, historic townhouses can be seen. The photograph was taken during the day, with light filtering through white and grey clouds.
Kraków’s Old Town

One of Europe’s most magnificent medieval squares, rich in centuries-old history and vibrant culture.
The photograph shows the historic, Neoclassical Palace on the Island (Łazienki Palace) in Warsaw. The building’s light-coloured façade, with its colonnade and roof sculptures, is reflected in the water of the surrounding Southern Pond. On the left-hand side, a section of the bridge with its colonnade is visible. The composition is completed by the lush, green tree canopies of Łazienki Park against a backdrop of a dynamic sky with white and grey clouds.
Royal Łazienki Museum

The palace-and-park complex in Warsaw’s Royal Łazienki is one of the most beautiful historic sites of its kind in the capital.
The photograph shows a side view of the façade of the Baroque Wilanów Palace in Warsaw. The rich architectural ornamentation, the sculptures on the roof and the yellow stucco elements are clearly visible. In the foreground lies a meticulously maintained, geometric garden in the French-Italian style, featuring low hedges, colourful ground cover and topiary shrubs. Situated on the southern edge of Warsaw and surrounded by the greenery of a historic park, Wilanów Palace is one of the city’s major tourist attractions.
