Exploring the future of spatial intelligence through Big Data Cartography.
ICC 2027 is the largest and most important global cartographic conference organized under the auspices of the International Cartographic Association (ICA). As we navigate an era defined by information, our leading featured theme – “Big Data Cartography: Understanding More Than Ever Before”- seeks to bridge technological innovation and social impact while keeping human knowledge and expertise in the center.
The 33rd International Cartographic Conference (ICC 2027) is jointly organized by the Association of Polish Surveyors, the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies at the University of Warsaw, and the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography at the Warsaw University of Technology.
The flagship event of the global cartographic community
Cartography models the real world and creates digital twins, while also increasingly creating virtual worlds. Geographical analysis requires combining many different data sources, using SDI and VGI resources, and applying artificial intelligence methods. The basis is a variety of data of huge sizes.
From digital twins and autonomous systems to climate intelligence and global mobility – modern data-driven systems rely on cartographic principles, often without naming them as such.
As the flagship event of the global mapping community, ICC 2027 provides a unique platform for dialogue and collaboration among:
01
leading scientists and researchers
02
technology innovators and data leaders
03
public sector and policy decision-makers
04
emerging talents shaping the future of spatial intelligence
Contemporary cartography is an interdisciplinary field that uses the latest technological solutions.
It is a field that uses spatial data collected by both surveyors and other specialists, and then analyzed and visualized by geographers and experts in many other fields.
We want to emphasize the importance of cooperation between surveyors and geographers, technologists and analysts, historians and visionaries. These boundaries, increasingly blurred, shape a new image of a cartographer and GIScience specialist.
The 33rd edition of ICC 2027 will introduce several new features designed to enrich the conference experience and foster professional exchange among participants.
01
The conference program is expected to include two debates: one focusing on the future development of cartography and one dedicated to a selected thematic issue.
02
Young cartographers will have the opportunity to participate in complimentary technical courses on modern software and tools used in cartography, including an introduction to big data applications.
03
Before and after the conference, participants will have the opportunity to take part in study visits to selected Polish academic institutions, providing additional opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange.
Powered by Spatial Big Data, cartography moves beyond traditional maps — discovering the past, observing the present and envisioning the future to understand more than ever before.
